Artist Statement

As a sculptor, my creative journey is an exploration of the beauty of nature and the expressiveness of the human figure. My process is a meditative collaboration with the clay itself. As I build and carve, I listen to the material, allowing it to guide me. The act of working with coils is a dance between control and spontaneity, a dance that mirrors the intricate balance found in nature. The concentric pattern of growth rings, the graceful line of the human form, the intricate patterns of a leaf - all of these elements wedge themselves into the foundation of my work.

Biography

Mariah Greenhoff is an American artist living and working in Minnesota. She’s primarily a ceramic sculptor and a printmaker. Mariah has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fine Art from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD. Her distinct style and mark making process is largely influenced by naturally occurring patterns in nature.
